I have watched this building hiding under construction for years and finally got to go in! I was lucky enough to spend my last 4 nights in London at the Courthouse Hotel, and it is just gorgeous.
The building is the old courthouse & metropolitan police station and they have kept many of the original features. This includes the stained glass done, floor tiles and my favourite… four cells!! These cells are in the exceptionally handsome bar and originally housed the Kray brothers, it does not get much cooler than that!
The hotel also offers:
- 2 bowling lanes
- 196 seat cinema
- Lap pool & sauna
- Conference space
- Rooftop bar
I love roof top bars! This one is gorgeous, with a selection of different style seating and views over Shoreditch Town Hall & St Leonard’s. drinks are very reasonably priced so you can settle in for a few (plus there is super soft blankets of you get cold).
I get the impression that you need to be connected to the hotel to be able to access the great facilities or at least be very good at blagging 😜
The only thing that lets them down (and to be honest it’s not that big a deal) is the food. It is decidedly average, but you are in an area of such great food GO OUT!!!!
The staff here get a 10/10 for service. I have not seen such warm service in London before. Every one greats you, asks about your day and offers suggestions and in no way does it come across as if it is a chore for them.
Would I stay here again? Damn right I would. It’s the perfect location for exploring London, it’s a perfect hotel for snuggling in.
